Also, my experience with RetroArch was that it was in fact much more annoying to use in general, particularly considering you have to configure your graphic settings per-game rather than overall. I don't really have any of the issues you're describing for the most part. You literally config RetroArch once and anything you play and touch will work right out of the box just fine. Mednafen and Beetle HW are more accurate emulators, no more fiddling with plugins and settings and hoping frame buffers work correctly or effects work correctly or hoping the audio is playing the right way around without crackling or anything. RA and Beetle offer you nearly perfect CRT options like CRT Easy Mode to calibrate all of the 2D games from PS1, basically the only shit that stands up anymore. I used it for ages, and that thing was goddamn near falling the fuck apart.
